My Philosophy

Over the last few years, I have watched as a shift has taken place in our schools. A majority of the shift I see, has taken place in our kindergarten classrooms. Much of the curriculum that is now being taught in kindergarten is what used to be taught in first grade. The problem with this shift is that many children are coming ill prepared to kindergarten to meet these extra demands.

I am a visual person, so if I could, let me try to give you a visual image. I see preschool as the foundation of a child's educational career. As the curriculum of kindergarten has progressively gotten heavier our preschool foundation is beginning to crack. An extra layer is needed to help support the weight of the new demands. I think that two years of preschool will help strengthen that foundation for our children. A first year of traditional preschool is needed to help our children with social skills and a basic understanding of letters and numbers etc. The second year of preschool I propose, should be a kindergarten preparedness school where the focus is on ensuring that our children have the extra skill sets that they need to be successful in kindergarten.

My goal at A Little White House Kindergarten Preparedness Preschool is to help your child be better equipped academically for kindergarten and to increase the strength in your child's educational foundation.
